What is the best place to visit in 2026?

Author’s comment.

I decided to make a list of recommended places to visit in 2026 planning your trip forward.

Where there were beautiful and tourist loved places, there are also places worth visiting because of the events or renovation done to them.

I will include some of them in my research document.

🌍 Why 2026 is the Year for an Unforgettable Trip (And Where to Go)

Planning a trip for 2026? You're in for a treat. While the world is full of timeless destinations, some years offer a unique, can't-miss reason to visit a specific place. Whether it's a once-in-a-generation event, a major cultural celebration, or a destination just hitting its stride, timing is everything.

After looking at the trends, events, and new developments shaping the travel map, one destination (or, in this case, a trio) stands out as the best place to visit in 2026: North America (USA, Canada & Mexico).

Here’s why, along with a few other incredible options for your 2026 travel radar.

🏆 The Top Pick: North America (USA, Canada & Mexico)

For one reason and one reason only: the FIFA World Cup 2026.

Even if you're not a die-hard soccer fan, hear me out. From June to July 2026, the entire continent will be electric. This isn't just a sporting event; it's the largest single-sport event on Earth, and for the first time, it's being co-hosted by three nations.

Why this makes it the top destination:

  • A Continent-Wide Celebration: The energy will be unparalleled. Sixteen host cities—from Vancouver and Toronto to Mexico City, Los Angeles, Miami, and New York/New Jersey—will transform into international hubs of celebration. Imagine entire cities buzzing with fans from around the globe, public viewing parties, and a month-long festival atmosphere.

  • Unprecedented Access: This is the first 48-team World Cup in history. The sheer scale means more games, more teams, and more opportunities to be part of the action. You don't even need a game ticket to soak in the incredible international vibe.

  • The Ultimate Road Trip: Because the event is so widespread, it’s the perfect excuse for a grand North American tour. You could:

    • Start with a match in the futuristic SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles before driving up the iconic Pacific Coast Highway.

    • Experience the vibrant culture and history of Mexico City at the legendary Estadio Azteca.

    • Combine a game in Vancouver with an escape to the staggering natural beauty of the Canadian Rockies.

This is a rare moment when a single event ties together three massive countries in a shared, joyous celebration. It's a cultural phenomenon that transcends sport, and it won’t happen like this again for decades.

🥈 Runner-Up for Sports & Style: Italy

If a trans-continental trip isn't in the cards, set your sights on Northern Italy for the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics.

  • What it is: The 25th Winter Olympic Games, held from February 6-22, 2026.

  • Why go: This is the perfect "city and mountains" trip. You get the high fashion, art, and energy of Milan (which will host ice hockey, figure skating, and short-track speed skating) combined with the breathtaking alpine beauty of Cortina d'Ampezzo in the Dolomites (hosting skiing, bobsled, and curling). It’s a chance to see world-class athletes against one of the most beautiful backdrops on Earth.

💎 Gem for Culture & Nature: Oulu, Finland

Looking for something different? A destination that's creative, surprising, and truly unique? Head to Oulu, Finland.

  • What it is: Oulu will be the European Capital of Culture 2026.

  • Why go: This city, located on the coast of the Bothnian Bay just south of the Arctic Circle, is preparing for a year-long cultural extravaganza. The theme is "Cultural Climate Change," focusing on art, technology, and nature. Expect:

    • Hundreds of art projects, concerts, and performances.

    • Sauna festivals and "Art in the Dark" light installations.

    • A chance to explore a vibrant, tech-savvy city while being on the doorstep of Arctic nature. You can easily combine cultural immersion with snow-shoeing, dog sledding, or even a chance to see the Northern Lights.

🗺️ An Emerging Star: Albania

If your goal for 2026 is to discover "Europe's best-kept secret" before the rest of the world does, go to Albania.

  • What it is: A stunningly beautiful and affordable country on the Adriatic.

  • Why go in 2026: Beyond the pristine "Albanian Riviera" beaches that rival Greece's, 2026 is a special year. The historic city of Gjirokastër, a UNESCO World Heritage site, is set to host the Gjirokastër National Folk Festival. This massive cultural celebration of Albanian folklore, music, and dance only happens once every four years, making 2026 a perfect time to experience the country's deep cultural roots.

Whether you're looking for the massive, global energy of the World Cup, the alpine elegance of the Olympics, or the creative spirit of a cultural capital, 2026 is full of specific, timely reasons to travel.

Which kind of trip are you dreaming of for 2026? I can help you find more details on any of these destinations!

 Conclusion:

For people who likes to see panoramic views I also suggest to visit some countries in Asia, but for people who likes the nightlife I always suggest to visit European and American countries.
